Library is an integral part of any college imparting its services to all the students, faculty members and other staff members. We, the faculty of library assure you to offer the best library service. We shall not leave any stone unturned to achieve the mission of the college. We promote each student to participate in the development process of our Library. Which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the college. The Library, besides having a huge collection of books on Engineering, Science, Technology and Humanities offers Library services through its various divisions. We have attempted to make the KGEC Library a 21st century knowledge base society of tomorrow. The Library has subscribed 60 Nationals / Internationals print & online Journals, 5 newspapers and 6 magazine. It aims to collect, store, and disseminate information besides offering computerized services to users, to coordinate efforts for suitable collection development and to reduce unnecessary duplication wherever possible. Library is fully automated by the Autosys 1.1 Library Management Software.
DIGITAL LIBRARY:
A Digital Library is in which collections are stored in digital formats and accessible by internet. The digital content may be stored locally, or accessed remotely via computer network. A digital library is a type of information retrieval system.

Circulation:
The library working hours are from 8:45 A.M. to 8:45 P.M. on weekdays.
General books (issue/return) - Monday-Saturday: 9:00 A.M. to 5:10 P.M.
Reference books, back issues of magazines are also issued for reference section for two hours only during working hours.
Book Bank:
Textbooks recommended by the concerned faculty members for different courses are kept in the Stack Section at the circulation counter for a period of one semester. These books can be issued from the library against Identity Card. Only five books can be issued at a time to a student against Identity Card. The books are to be returned at the end of the semester and a fresh set of books may be issued at the commencement of the new semester from the Library.
Inter-Library Loan:
The Library offers inter-library loan service to its users for books and periodicals which are not available in the KGEC Library by procuring them from other libraries.
Membership:
Library membership is free for all students, faculty and staff members of the KGEC Kanpur.
Reference Services:
The Library maintains a separate reference collection consisting of encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, handbooks, atlases, bibliographies, CD -ROMs, etc. Reference books are marked as “R”.
The Reference Section also houses videos and DVDs. The viewing facility is extended to the students, staff and faculty of the college from 8:45 A.M. to 8:45 P.M. on all working days.
Readers may approach the Reference Desk for information or any assistance for the use of the Library Collection and Services. Users may also contact the Reference Division for CD ROM-based search services and web-based services.
Photocopying:
The Library offers photocopying service to all its members. Only single copy of journal articles and book chapters are provided for private study and research purposes. The charges for photocopying are highly subsidized for KGEC students.
Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)
OPAC module of the library enables users to formulate their query and search with various access points such as author, title, document type, & keywords.
Internet :
Library has access to INTERNET facility that encompasses a broad range of services to augment education and research activity.
Access To CD-ROM Database :
Library provides access to various CD-ROM databases in the field of Engineering and Science & Technology to support the academic and research activity of Students, Faculty & Staffs.

We offer many services in order to meet the information needs of a variety of different patrons, whether you are a student, a faculty member, a staff member. We can help you locate materials in our collections, use a variety of reference books, databases, and assist you in formulating effective search strategies to streamline your study.
